Shopify Plus Platform and Updates, B2B E-commerce, Wholesale

Introduction

It is expected that 80% of B2B e-commerce will take place online by 2025, so it is time to upgrade commerce between businesses. Today, Shopify is launching a new suite of features specifically designed for wholesalers, directly on our platform, with access to all the powerful customization features in Shopify like store templates, discounts, and functionalities – all included in Shopify Plus. This will allow you to manage your entire business – whether B2B, DTC, or both – in one place.

Introducing B2B on Shopify

We have long heard from our merchants that they want the ability to sell wholesale and direct from one online store. To meet this growing demand, we have worked to build the most essential and powerful features that wholesalers need right into the heart of Shopify. This will enable any merchant looking to provide a user-friendly purchasing experience for both their end customers and wholesale customers from a single platform.

What does B2B on Shopify include?

Company Profiles: Provide a unique purchasing experience for your B2B customers with the new company profiles. You can set premium contact permissions, payment terms, price lists, and tax exemptions for each B2B customer. For more complex customers, you can assign multiple contacts and locations to one profile with different permission levels. With a central company profile, there is no need to manage separate records for each buyer and location you work with.

Price Lists: Setting custom wholesale prices has never been easier. Assign fixed price lists and percentage price lists for all your products and variants, and easily adjust the currency. Wholesalers can also sell in multiple currencies within one store, expanding your global reach. You can set price lists for specific companies and locations – without the need for tags or third-party apps. Additionally, you can assign multiple price lists to one company, with the lowest always being the winning price if there are multiple prices available for a specific product.

Payment Terms: You can now automate the assignment of payment terms for orders or draft orders in the dashboard. Once payment terms are set for a company location, you can track, sort, and collect orders when they are due. Your customers will be able to check out using the payment terms you provided without the need for an upfront payment, and they can always track their upcoming payments when they log into their account.

Checkout for B2B Customers: The checkout experience has been streamlined and customized for your wholesale customers. They can view the assigned payment terms, payment methods, and wholesale discounts during the buying process. B2B checkout ensures that they have the information they need to place an order with confidence.

Customer Accounts: Your customers will see wholesale products and prices only after they are authenticated. Once logged in, they will have access to all their important account information, reducing the time your team needs to spend on customer support. B2B customers can manage their accounts, locate the company they are purchasing from, edit buyer information, and view and filter their order history.

Powerful Customization: From a single platform, you can now harness the power of Shopify to operate your B2B business with the same level of customization you have for your DTC store, including access to: store templates and Liquid customizations, discounts, app environment, API access, and functionalities (formerly known as scripts).

B2B Analytics: With B2B on Shopify, merchants will be able to apply new custom B2B filters to their reports and gain clear insights into their wholesale businesses when using one store. New B2B filters will be available across all reports in the following sections: sales, orders, profit margins, customers, and finances. Filtered B2B reports come with the same functionalities as traditional reporting: you can create, save, and export custom reports in the column editing section. This is another way you can run both sides of your business from one platform and one dashboard.

Our Goal
He made your B2B business operation more efficient. B2B on Shopify shares the same simple, ready-to-use setup and management as Shopify’s leading DTC offering, but is powerful enough to provide a personalized shopping experience for B2B customers.

Easier Integrations and Increased Efficiency

We understand the challenges of creating alternative solutions to connect disparate systems together, which is why we built B2B on Shopify to address this exact problem.

We are collaborating with global ERP providers such as NetSuite, Acumatica, and Brightpearl to make running your business with your favorite tools frictionless. You can connect to your ERP system through Shopify APIs or third-party connectors to automatically integrate your core business data, such as customers, products, pricing, and inventory, without manual data entry.

“For years, B2B buyers have demanded a personalized experience like DTC when purchasing products for their businesses. Acumatica’s native integration with Shopify provides B2B merchants a unified solution for managing the overall sales experience for B2B commerce.” ~ Josh Fisher – Product Management Director, Acumatica

Expand Wholesale Effortlessly

With a projected global market value of $7.7 trillion, now is the time to expand into wholesale. Without sacrificing functionality or efficiency, B2B on Shopify gives you the tools you need to reach new customers and revenue streams from one platform. The wholesale business model provides the benefits of higher demand volume with less time and costs.

With essential wholesale e-commerce features built directly into the core of Shopify, you can manage and grow both sides of your business from one platform. Additionally, you have access to the full power of customization in Shopify for your B2B and DTC customers – exclusively on Shopify Plus.

B2B on Shopify transforms the B2B e-commerce experience for merchants, agency partners, developers, and of course, wholesale buyers. These new B2B offerings give you access to the customization and tools that make Shopify Plus unique – empowering your business to build the B2B stores your customers need.
