Jay McCarroll
Jay McCarroll won the first season of “Project Runway” in 2005. After the win, McCarroll participated in another television program called “Project Jay,” which focused on his attempts to establish himself after the victory. He also participated in a short documentary called “Eleven Minutes” that followed the process of creating his collection for New York Fashion Week in 2006. In 2010, he won the title of “Star of the Fit Club” after losing 40 pounds. Regarding his career in design within the entertainment industry, he was a hair stylist for two short films, “Red Skies at Night: The Story of the Flower” (2016) and “Floor” (2017).
Chloe Dao
Chloe Dao won the second season of “Project Runway” with her elegant designs. After winning, Dao returned to her hometown of Houston, Texas, to continue developing her own clothing store, Chloe Dao. She also collaborated with QVC and sold her designs there for several years. In 2014, she became an executive producer and judge on “Project Runway Vietnam.” Dao also works as a charity activist, collaborating with organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Salvation Army in Houston. She also launched an initiative to donate face masks to those in need amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Dao runs her acclaimed store in Houston.
Jeffrey Sebelia
Jeffrey Sebelia won the third season of “Project Runway.” After the show, he landed a fashion design job for the film “Bratz,” released in 2007. In 2010, he became the head designer for the Los Angeles-based clothing label, Fluxus, but later left this position to pursue creating a children’s clothing line called La Miniatura. Sebelia also participated in the third season of “Project Runway: All Stars,” where he placed seventh out of 11 contestants. According to his website, Sebelia has also worked with clothing companies such as Guess and Urban Outfitters.
Christian Siriano
Christian Siriano won the fourth season of “Project Runway” when he was 21 years old. After his win, Siriano founded his own clothing line, Christian Siriano, and has continued to impress everyone at New York Fashion Week since 2008. In 2012, he opened his first store in New York, and in 2013, he became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He also served as a judge on “Project Runway Junior,” taking on the role of Tim Gunn as the mentor starting from the 17th season of “Project Runway.” He has designed outfits for several celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, Michelle Obama, Kim Kardashian, and Gigi Hadid, to name a few.
Liane Marshall
Liane Marshall won the fifth season of “Project Runway.” Since her win, Marshall moved to New York City and developed her own line. She has dazzled audiences at New York Fashion Week since 2008, with her flowing dresses worn by many celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Solange, and Jackie Cruz. In 2011, she launched her signature line of wedding dresses and became well-known for her bridal gowns and ready-to-wear designs. She even designed her own wedding dress, along with her friend’s honor gown for her own wedding in 2018. Recently, Marshall presented her Fall 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
Irina Shabayeva
Irina Shabayeva won the sixth season of “Project Runway.” Since winning the sixth season, Shabayeva has focused on her own brand and participated in several fashion weeks around the world. In 2011, she launched an exclusive bridal collection for the famous Kleinfeld store in New York, and in the same year, she launched her outerwear line, LUXE by Irina. In 2013, Shabayeva participated in the third season of “Project Runway: All Stars,” finishing in sixth place. She also took part in the seventh season in 2019, where she placed third. The designer has also created designs for several celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Carrie Underwood, Madonna, Kelly Ripa, and Kelly Clarkson.
Seth
Aaron Henderson
Set Aaron Henderson became the first designer to win both “Project Runway” and “Project Runway: All Stars” (season three). After his success on “Project Runway,” Henderson focused on designing sustainable clothing and worked with brands such as Earthtec and SolarWorld. His designs attracted celebrity clients like Lady Gaga, Grace Jones, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry. He is known for his use of organic fabrics and plastic bottles in his fashion lines, and in 2017, he collaborated with Feetz to launch a collection of 3D printed shoes. In 2019, Henderson was appointed as the head designer for the Idaho-based brand Fin Fun, which sells mermaid tails and swimwear. Henderson also participated in season seven of “Project Runway: All Stars” in 2019 but left the competition early, finishing in thirteenth place. The designer continues to create and sell clothing under his brand.
Gretchen Jones
Gretchen Jones won season eight of “Project Runway.” After her win, some viewers criticized her choice over their favorite contestant Mondo Guerra. Following her participation in “Project Runway,” Jones moved to Brooklyn where she managed her women’s ready-to-wear line, Gretchen Jones NYC. Over the past ten years, Jones has had the opportunity to work and collaborate with brands like REI, Converse, Little Sister Creative, and East Olivia. Currently, Jones has shifted significantly from design to consulting through her own company, Weird Specialty.
Anya Ayoung-Chee
Anya Ayoung-Chee won season nine of “Project Runway.” After her win, Ayoung-Chee launched a resortwear line. According to her website, she manages a co-working space, a clothing store, and a cafe in Trinidad and Tobago. Ayoung-Chee also served as a mentor on “Project Runway: Under the Gunn” in 2014. The designer also participated in season seven of “Project Runway: All Stars” in 2019, finishing in tenth place. In 2020, Ayoung-Chee presented a new collection of women’s clothing at the WYLD FLWR showcase at the Museum of Sex. Ayoung-Chee is currently working on new collections under her brand.
Dmitry Sholokhov
Dmitry Sholokhov won season ten of “Project Runway.” After his win, Sholokhov dedicated his time to his own brand, primarily working on custom orders. After winning season ten of “Project Runway” and season four of “Project Runway: All Stars,” he finished second in season seven of “All Stars.” In 2019, he collaborated with designer Sue Woon to win the title of Fashion Designer of the Year at the Urban Fashion Awards. Sholokhov is currently working under his own brand.
Michelle Lesniak
Michelle Lesniak won season eleven of “Project Runway.” After nearly being eliminated early in the program, Lesniak was crowned champion in season eleven. Lesniak continues to design in Portland, Oregon, where she currently designs clothes for her own store. Lesniak also returned to “Project Runway: All Stars” in season seventeen in 2019 and won the grand prize. She continues to design clothing and accessories.
Dome Streeter
Dome Streeter won season twelve of “Project Runway.” After her success on the show, Streeter won season five of “Project Runway: All Stars.” Currently, Streeter works in Philadelphia and, according to an interview with The News and Observer in 2018, considers herself a slow fashion designer. Her brand offers limited edition t-shirts, scarves, and jackets for sale, as well as abstract art pieces.
Shawn Kelly
Shawn Kelly won season thirteen of “Project Runway.” After impressing the audience with a dress that transformed from white to multicolored in the rain, Kelly won the entire competition. Kelly currently lives and works in New York, primarily working for Hercules, a luxury swimwear brand for men. The designer recently participated in the seventh season of “Project Runway: All Stars” and finished in seventh place.
Ashley
Nail Tiberton
Ashley Nail Tiberton stood out in “Project Runway” by collaborating with plus-size models and designing attractive clothing. After winning “Project Runway,” Tiberton signed a contract with JCPenney to design and represent their plus-size line. She also designed for Simplicity and K and M Accessories and launched a line of clothing and sunglasses in her name. In 2020, Tiberton announced on her YouTube channel that she would stop designing and instead transition to publishing episodes of her YouTube series “Love Gallery.” In 2021, Tiberton won the Emerging Fashion Designer Award at San Diego Fashion Week.
Eren Robertson
Eren Robertson won the fifteenth season of “Project Runway.” Thanks to her banana-print designs and silver coats, Robertson took the title in season fifteen. Robertson’s designs are featured in several magazines such as Marie Claire, Nylon, Teen Vogue, Forbes, and Elite Daily. In 2018, she collaborated with Starbursts and DDB Studio to create the “Pink Starburst Collection,” and also worked with Jiffy or in the MIT Media Lab to create 3D fur-designed pieces. In 2020, Robertson collaborated with MIT again to help judge innovative solutions for face masks and personal protective equipment through the Pandemic Response CoLab. Robertson continues to design and work creatively, especially with her brand An-Erin.
Kentaro Kameyama
Kentaro Kameyama won the sixteenth season of “Project Runway.” Since the end of the program, Kameyama has had successful fashion shows in Los Angeles, Paris, and New York. Ready-to-wear pieces are available for sale on his website. Kameyama currently works as a teacher and department chair at the Fashion School in Los Angeles. In 2021, he presented new designs at Los Angeles Fashion Week. As a classical pianist and composer, Kameyama also works in music.
Juan “Sebastian” Gray
Juan “Sebastian” Gray won the seventeenth season of “Project Runway.” With his upscale style, Gray won the entire competition. After winning, Gray showcased his “Lineage” collection in collaboration with the Fashion for a Cause foundation at New York Fashion Week. Gray is currently working on designing pieces for his own brand.
Jeffrey Mak
Jeffrey Mak won the eighteenth season of “Project Runway.” Mak was a fan favorite in the eighteenth season, so it was no surprise that he won the grand prize. Mak won the competition in March 2020, so he hasn’t done much since. Before participating in the show and winning in 2020, Mak was already successful. His designs have been worn by celebrities such as Björk, Brooke Candy, Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Icona Pop, and Kesha. His brand’s fall/winter 2021 collection is described as “a modern and stylish reimagining of the 90s club kid scene.” His latest collection is titled “Odyssey.”
Chantal Lacayo
Chantal Lacayo won the nineteenth season of “Project Runway.” The Nicaraguan designer was no stranger to the fashion world prior to participating in the show. Chantal launched her brand, Chantal, in 2010, which according to her website, “is committed to raising awareness of the beauty and history of Latin American makers.” In 2022, she won the grand prize after the first female finale in “Project Runway” history. Lacayo continues to successfully design clothing under her brand.
Besham Cromartie
Besham Cromartie participated in the twentieth season of “Project Runway,” alongside a group of former contestants. After participating in the seventeenth season, Cromartie returned strong and won the final season. Cromartie designs for his own brand and has created outfits for celebrities like Michelle Williams for red carpet events. After his win in September, Cromartie presented his designs at New York Fashion Week. He continues to design clothing for his brand and has dressed celebrities.
