In this article, I will present the best five things I saw this week on YouTube. Instead of providing a weekly news summary as usual, I will take a break from the weekly news and showcase the things I am grateful for as a creator, YouTube user, and facilitator among stakeholders!
YouTube Expert Reveals the Truth About Shorts, AI, and More
The dedicated Shorts tab has now been launched for the YouTube Creator Studio on desktop. There has been a Shorts tab in the YouTube Studio mobile app for some time, but getting it on desktop has been a very frequent request. This reflects the great efforts made by the Studio and channel pages team this year – as everything has been better organized for multi-format creators. Thanks to the new details and analytics, we can now create diverse content on the same channel if we believe it suits the same audience and enhances the value we provide to them.
Create Emotion-Driven Content!
I am incredibly grateful to the YouTube social media team and the support for creators in the Studio. The scale of the issues they deal with daily, and even weekly, is truly amazing. I used to reach out to them often when I was a full-time creator, and I still do regularly inside YouTube. You are all superheroes! Similarly, YouTube creators who can communicate clearly and concisely about complex product announcements and updates, such as simplified ad controls, the expanded YouTube Partner Program, the new YouTube application operating under the experiment, podcasts on YouTube, and more! Also, a quick thank you to the creators who always show up to help other creators. In addition to Syan, Loria, Shelly, Colin, and Samir mentioned above, thanks to Nick Nimmin, Roberto Blake, Daniel Patil, Muath, Liron Segev, and Erin on Demand, and Fiber and Judah, who not only post and stream but also joined us in “Made on YouTube” for all the updates live!
A Special Thanks to Everyone Who Joined the Creator Tips Series on the Leizon YouTube Channel
I can’t believe the number of people who kindly joined the Creator Tips series on the Leizon YouTube channel. I can’t believe how many people we still have many more to introduce to you soon! The same goes for all the creators who joined the “In a Bind” and “Between Creators” series on the YouTube blog – we sincerely appreciate your time in sharing information with YouTube and all our fellow creators!
Tip of the Week: Use Audience Tab in Performance Analytics
I am incredibly grateful for the Audience tab in the Performance Analytics in the Studio. Just as achieving successful albums and successful films annually is extremely difficult, consistently producing successful videos is also very challenging. Viewer interest changes, and creators who want to remain relevant and successful in the long term must move and adapt with it. Keep reinventing! For this reason, the Audience tab is like a cheat sheet. “Videos that Grow Your Audience” is a great way to understand what type of content your audience is coming for. This way, you can create more of the same type of content, alongside follow-ups, to keep them watching. In other words, move from standalone videos to video series, from one-time views to binge-watching sessions. “What Your Audience is Watching” (alongside the Search tab!) is also great for identifying any weaknesses in your content that you might want to address in your unique way. Advanced analytics has also started breaking down views by new and returning users, so we can gain a better understanding of our core audience compared to transient audiences. Awesome!
