It’s time to move to Iowa.
Introduction
Whether you are part of the millennial generation or not, you probably know that homeownership has been quite challenging for many millennials, compared to previous generations. There are a few complex factors preventing millennials from buying homes, including student debt, high interest rates, inflation, and a lack of inventory. (According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s construction survey, only 1% of new homes built in 2022 were priced below $200,000.) And while all this may seem discouraging, millennials are still becoming homeowners. In fact, U.S. Census Bureau data also indicates that more than half (51.5 percent) of millennials own their homes. While housing affordability has reached its lowest levels nationwide, millennials have achieved much greater success in some places compared to others.
