History
Real Simple magazine started in 2000 with the goal of simplifying life and reducing stress. Today, we reach over 10 million digital users and 6.2 million magazine readers each month. You can find Real Simple everywhere, including on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok; by listening to our award-winning podcast Money Confidential; or by purchasing our Clorox cleaning products, the Argento kitchen tools line, and other special items at TJ Maxx, 1-800-Flowers, QVC, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Editorial Principles
At Real Simple, we take pride in providing accurate, reliable, comprehensive, and balanced information, and we continuously review our content to ensure it is up-to-date and accurate. We are committed to creating high-quality content that represents and serves all people, and we work with a diverse group of writers and editors who represent a wide range of ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities, all of which is reflected in our content. We strive to provide high-quality content created by humans for humans. Publishing content generated automatically using AI writing tools like ChatGPT is not permitted.
Independence and Integrity
We believe in independent, fair, and neutral journalism. Our editors and writers hold a high level of responsibility when it comes to honesty and transparency, and our original editorial content is not influenced by our advertisers. Therefore, we maintain a strict separation between advertising content and editorial content. Any content provided by or on behalf of an advertiser or sponsor is clearly labeled.
Product Reviews
All product reviews on the Real Simple website are independent and based on research and product testing conducted by our editors and writers. We share products we love and believe our readers will love too. If you visit certain links within our content, we may receive commissions from your purchases. We do not receive any compensation for recommending products within our content.
Sources and Fact-Checking
Our writers and editors investigate claims and verify all information and data compiled for all articles, including news. We consult qualified and diverse sources relevant to ensure providing the appropriate context and background for the reader. We rely on contemporary and reliable primary sources, such as expert interviews, government organizations, institutions, and professional and academic studies. All data points, facts, and claims are supported by at least one reliable source. All our news and information are meticulously reviewed by our team editor and assessed for accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
Corrections
If there is an error in a story, we will correct it as soon as possible. All corrections will be clearly labeled and will include details of what was changed and when. When an article is factually correct but the language is not clear or detailed enough, the story may be updated without notice from the editor.
Diversity and Inclusion
At Real Simple, we aim to help everyone simplify their lives. A key to this mission is understanding the many structural and social barriers our readers face and responding with the most inclusive solutions. We recognize that Real Simple readers are not homogenous: we come from various races, sizes, identities, and abilities, form different relationships and families, and follow different cultural and religious traditions. We want Real Simple to be a valuable resource for everyone, and we will use our platform to promote inclusivity, equality, and human rights.
