Enjoy a cozy Thanksgiving!

How will you spend Thanksgiving, if you celebrate it? The kids are heading to the countryside with Alex, but my parents are visiting Brooklyn, and we are hosting a big meal for friends and neighbors (and Georgie!). Everyone is bringing something, and we are responsible for the mashed potatoes and stuffing. I hope you have a great time, and here are some fun links from around the web…

Tanya’s comment on what is your specialty for Thanksgiving?: “I really wanted my special recipe to be my mom’s scalloped potatoes. My mom made the richest, creamiest, most delicious scalloped potatoes every Thanksgiving when I was little. I looked forward to the crispy edges. In the first year of my marriage, we went to dinner with friends and I called my mom to ask for her recipe. She replied, ‘I’ve never made scalloped potatoes.’ My response: ‘What? You made them every year, they were my favorite. We took them to Grandma’s house!’ She replied, ‘Oh honey, those were from a box. I didn’t have time to make real scalloped potatoes. Didn’t you know that?’.”

Saridwen’s comment on words she loves: “I loved your recent post about a few important words, so I’ve been trying to reuse old phrases, which is fun and weird. Go for a hike! How about rude! And using the phrase ‘little child’ to describe a child getting into trouble. I also add ‘great’ a lot and my voice starts to sound like my mom’s.”
