This article provides an overview of the editorial policies of the Nature Portfolio journals, which include basic scientific research. Nature Portfolio includes all journals that carry the name Nature, as well as Communications journals, the npj series, Scientific Reports, and Scientific Data. A list of these journals and a description of their relationship can be found here. In August 2015, the Nature Portfolio journals became members of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We will benefit from COPE’s guidelines; however, Nature Portfolio journals will continue to make independent decisions based on our own policies and principles.
