Accusation of singer Sean Diddy Combs for rape and sexual assault in two separate cases

Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accused of rape and sexual assault in two separate cases after settling a sexual assault case against him brought by singer and former partner Cassandra “Kasi” Ventura – accusations denied by a representative for Combs.

Main Information

Joy Dickerson-Neal filed a lawsuit against Combs on Thursday – one day before the expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act – in New York Supreme Court, accusing him of drugging her, sexually assaulting her, and secretly recording the assault while she was a college student in 1991, according to an NBC News report citing the lawsuit.

In the lawsuit, Dickerson-Neal said she went out to dinner “alone” with Combs on January 3, 1991, and that Combs “pushed” her to accompany him “while he was doing some things in the city,” at which time she alleges she was drugged and “resulted in her being in a physical state where she could not stand or walk independently,” according to a BBC report.

The lawsuit claims that Combs took Dickerson-Neal to the place where he was staying and sexually assaulted her there, recording the assault to show to others, according to a BBC report.

NBC News reported that Combs and his company Bad Boy Entertainment, Bad Boy Records, and Combs Enterprises, which was later renamed Combs Global, are listed as defendants in Dickerson-Neal’s lawsuit.

Combs has been accused of sexual assault in a third lawsuit by an anonymous plaintiff who alleged that Combs and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall took turns raping the plaintiff and her friend in 1990 or 1991 after meeting at an event organized by MCA Records in New York where the two singers were “very hands-on and passing drinks” to the plaintiff and her friend, according to a Rolling Stone report.

The lawsuit states that Combs and Hall invited the women to Hall’s apartment for an after-party where “more drinks were offered to the plaintiff and she was forced to have sex with Combs,” and she was “shocked and traumatized” afterward, according to the lawsuit, before “Hall burst into the room and pinned her down and forced Jane Doe to have sex with him,” as she was getting dressed, according to a Rolling Stone report.

After speaking with her friend, the plaintiff discovered that she had also “been forced to have sex with Combs and Hall in another room,” the complaint states, and after a few days, Combs visited the home where the plaintiff and her friend were staying, where he became “angry and began assaulting her and choking Jane Doe until she lost consciousness,” the lawsuit alleges that Combs also searched for her friend “because he was worried that she would tell the girl he was with at the time what he and Hall did to them,” according to a Rolling Stone report.

Rolling Stone reported that Combs, Hall, and MCA Music Entertainment and Geffen Records are listed as defendants in the third lawsuit filed by Jane Doe.

Key Quote

In a statement shared with Forbes, a spokesperson for Combs said the lawsuits against the rapper “are fabricated claims falsely alleging inappropriate behavior from over 30 years ago and brought at the last minute.” The spokesperson described the lawsuits as “just an attempt to get money” and that “because of Combs’ fame and success, he is an easy target for anonymous accusers lying without a conscience or consequences to gain financial benefits.”

Main Background

The new lawsuits come after a lawsuit against Combs by singer and former partner Cassandra “Kasi” Ventura, who accused him of raping her in 2018, punching her, and forcing her to carry a firearm “to make her uncomfortable and show how dangerous he was” and forcing Ventura into “unwanted sexual encounters with male sex workers.” Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs was settled the day after it was filed for an undisclosed amount of money. Ventura said after the settlement that she “decided to resolve the matter amicably on terms that gave her some level of control.” According to Dickerson-Neal’s court filing, Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs “forced” her to “confront his assault again,” according to an NBC News report the filing cites.

It states

Dickerson-Neal’s lawsuit states that she suffered from her mental health, professional life, and humiliation as a result of the assault recording, and that she did not go to the hospital or file a police report due to confusion and pain, according to court filings, as reported by NBC News. The Dickerson-Neal lawsuit claims she eventually filed police reports in New York and New Jersey and spoke to prosecutors seeking to press charges against Combs, then tried to locate the alleged video of her assault, but her colleagues told her they were “scared that Combs would retaliate against them and that they would lose job and future music opportunities if they made a statement on her behalf,” according to the NBC News report citing the lawsuit.
