Saudi photographer Abdul Rahman Al Ulaama uses the latest 3D technologies to offer a new way for Saudis to capture precious moments. In addition to taking portraits, the photographer aims to document important memories and record the Kingdom’s rich heritage, including significant stages in culture, clothing, and cuisine.
Documenting Cultural Heritage and Progress in the Kingdom
Abdul Rahman Al Ulaama uses 3D photography and printing technology to document important memories of individuals and record the rich heritage of the Kingdom, as well as significant stages in culture, clothing, and cuisine. A person is photographed from all angles before the images are merged to create a 3D model that includes all details.
This approach is considered an alternative to traditional photographs or artifacts. Its concept is based on innovation and modern technology, and he noted that there are companies in the United States famous for their exceptional printing capabilities, while these innovations are also popular in Japan, South Korea, and China.
Expanding Technology in the Kingdom
The 3D photography technology is currently limited to Riyadh, but he states that there is an assessment of the possibility of expanding it to other cities. He also hopes that young generations in the Kingdom will participate and be encouraged to learn the fundamentals of 3D photography.
In addition to its use in printing buildings and homes, this technology is also used to document heritage, cultures, old clothing, and food. Al Ulaama says that this technology has no limits and provides an opportunity to connect the Kingdom’s historical wealth to its bright present.
