Sam Esmail, the creator of “Mr. Robot,” directs Julia Roberts in the new psychological thriller “Leave the World Behind,” adapted from Raman Alam’s novel for Netflix. In the film, advertising executive (Roberts), her university professor husband (Ethan Hawke), and their children (Charlie Evans and Farah Mackenzie) spend a weekend at a luxurious home in Long Island. Late at night, two strangers (Mahershala Ali and Myhaala) appear with news of a cyber-attack and power outage, claiming that the house is theirs and seeking shelter. No one is entirely sure who to trust as the end of the world approaches. “Leave the World Behind” will be available to stream on Netflix this Friday. (Read AP’s review.)

New Video Games to Play
The “Avatar” movies have a lot of elements in common with video games, from their immersive 3D graphics to the idea of humans exploring a strange virtual world. But it’s been a long time since we’ve had a chance to play in James Cameron’s universe. Ubisoft is closing the gap with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The protagonist is a Na’vi warrior seeking revenge after being captured for many years by the military’s resource development administration. The developer promises to showcase wildlife and regions of Pandora that we haven’t seen on IMAX screens yet, and you’ll be able to use Na’vi and human weapons while trying to destroy smoke-belching factories set up by the company. Your banshee is ready for takeoff now on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, and PC.
