Have you seen the movie “The Holdovers”? When my dad suggested we go together, I hesitated because the trailer seemed to reveal the entire film (which happens in many trailers, and it’s boring!), so I was pleasantly surprised when we went to the theater and I discovered how rich and filled the movie was with multiple storylines! It follows the story of a kid stuck at his boarding school during the holidays, alongside a quarrelsome professor and the head chef, and I loved and believed in all the characters. (Here, the director narrates a scene in a liquor store, if you want to see it.)
How beautiful is my friend Grace’s tree?
She decorated it with a picture of her beloved dog Cooper. It makes me dream of the other things we could put on top of the tree: a red wool hat? A family photo? Teen socks?
If you’re in the mood for music
We’ve been playing this holiday-themed playlist when people come to visit us. Or, for a trip to Trader Joe’s or coming back from work, here’s a funny three-minute podcast about two teenage babysitters deciding whether they should eat after the kids fall asleep.
7-Dollar Lipstick
I’m excited to use my trusty 7-dollar lipstick for holiday parties. (It starts off pink and you can layer it to make it red.) We’ll be doing an “Ask Me Anything” soon on Big Salad, so feel free to ask questions through this Google Doc, and I’ll do my best to answer! Thank you so much, as always. xo
P.S. More fun things, and what are your top three movies of all time?
