3D Technology for Documenting Memories
Abdul Rahman Alama, a Saudi photographer, uses 3D photography and printing technology to document important memories for individuals and record the rich heritage of the Kingdom, along with significant stages in culture, clothing, and cuisine.
The “Minimi” Project in Riyadh
The “Minimi” project is located at Boulevard World in Riyadh and features over 80 cameras and 12 flashes within a room. The person is photographed from all angles before the images are merged to create a 3D model that captures all the details.
Expanding the Technology in the Kingdom
Although the technology is still new and expensive, it is unique and currently unmatched. Alama is working to expand the technology in the Kingdom and introduce it to other cities. He also hopes to engage the younger generations in the Kingdom and teach them the basics of 3D photography.
Using Technology to Document Heritage and Culture
In addition to using technology for printing buildings and homes, it is also used to document heritage, cultures, traditional clothing, and food.
