Intel (INTC) shares rose in pre-market trading after Israel announced it would grant the company $3.2 billion to build a $25 billion chip manufacturing plant in southern Israel. The American chipmaker also agreed to purchase $16.6 billion worth of goods and services from Israeli companies over the next decade.

2. British Entrepreneur Buys Minority Stake in Manchester United

Shares of the soccer club Manchester United (MANU) increased by nearly 5% in pre-market trading after British businessman Jim Ratcliffe agreed to buy a minority stake in the team, valuing it at $6.3 billion. Ratcliffe will purchase 25% of the class B shares owned by the Glazer family, who hold the majority stake in the club, and up to 25% of the publicly available shares of the company.

3. Tesla Issues Recall for Door Defect

Tesla (TSLA) announced it will recall 120,000 vehicles due to a defect that allows unlocked doors to open during accidents, affecting 2021 to 2023 models S and X. The electric car manufacturer has provided over-the-air software updates to the affected vehicles, with notification letters being sent on February 17, 2024, noting that there have been no injuries related to the defect. Tesla shares rose slightly in pre-market trading.

4. Latest “Aquaman” Film Records Lowest Opening for DC Movies

Warner Bros. Discovery’s “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” earned $28.1 million in its opening weekend, marking the lowest opening ever for DC comic films and less than half of the first “Aquaman” film’s $67.1 million in 2018. Warner Bros. WBD shares rose slightly in pre-market trading after losing momentum last week amid reports it is in merger talks with Paramount (PARA).

5. S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index Expected to Show Increase in October

The S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index is expected to show a 5.1% increase in October, compared to 3.9% in September, when the data is released at 9 AM ET. The U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency will also release the October home price index, while the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas will issue its Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey for December.
