The nuclear disintegration resulting from slowly charged particles with small mass.

In the study of photographic plates exposed to cosmic rays, we found a number of multiple disintegrations that appear to have been produced by a slowly charged particle entering the nucleus. Mosaic designs of microphotographs for three of these events are presented in Figures 1, 2, and 3. The individual images were not cropped so that the components of the mosaic can be distinguished. Three grains in the track in Figure 1 are highlighted, indicated by three arrows, which were not clear in the original negative images, but the images are otherwise unaltered.

The tracks of three disintegration particles can be distinguished, but the short-range particle remains in the dye
