Introduction
Scientists are joining hundreds of protesters at the COP26 climate conference – and they want more to join them. At 1 PM on November 11, I arrived at the gathering point: the South Portland Street pedestrian bridge, which spans the Clyde River in Glasgow, United Kingdom. On a small boat floating on the river, a person in a lab coat holds a sign that reads: “Tell the truth or we will lose everything.” It is Tim Hulett, an astronomer and founder of the activist group “Scientists for the Revolution.” I was told he would continue to cross the river until he reached the Scottish event center, where the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is being held, or until he is arrested – whichever comes first.
