How to Make Your Home a Sanctuary (Plus Big Discounts)

How do you relax at night? Recently, I’ve been watching funny movies and reading exciting books while wrapped in our softest winter blankets. Brooklinen, the home goods brand based in Brooklyn that we love and have used in our home for a decade, is offering 20% off all products at the start of Black Friday sales. Here are some of our long-time favorites…

Bed Linens:

Comfortable linens make the biggest difference when it comes to feeling cozy and relaxed, right? Guests who stay over always ask about these soft and silky sheets, and these lightweight, cool blankets feel like hotel quality. To add a cozy touch to our living room, I love this beautiful wool blanket. It’s perfect for a quiet night, chatting with friends by the fire.

Heavy Blanket, Sleep Mask, Cozy Pajamas:

I’m always thinking of different ways to make our home feel like a sanctuary, like playing music and cooking eggs and toast for the kids at breakfast. After a long day, I dim the lights and snuggle under a heavy cotton blanket. It’s magically cozy and feels like a hug. Plus, I’ve started bringing a silk sleep mask on trips, and I always wake up feeling refreshed. As for comfy clothes, I’m really into these pajamas that come in truly beautiful prints.

Soft Towels, Scented Candle, Cozy Robe:

What is your bedtime routine? These days, one of my evening rituals is having a spa-style bath, followed by soft towels and a cozy robe. Taking a bath in the dark can be really soothing before bed, especially with a flickering candle.

Best of all: Brooklinen is offering big discounts from now until November 29. All Brooklinen products are 20% off, and you can save more with their special bundle discount (automatically applied at checkout). Check everything out here – including linen sheets and cozy blankets.

What about you? How do you feel cozy this season?

Comment 1: I love the Brooklinen duvet cover and haven’t had any issues with it.

Comment 2: Hi Jo! I’m just thinking out loud here – I suppose you might have a bigger collection of Brooklinen sheets due to your partnership. I wonder if most people just have two sets of sheets and have to use them more regularly, which leads to wear. If you have a lot of sheets from the company, I think they don’t experience as much wear because you have more to use. I don’t think the average user has a good experience, and I wonder if that’s the reason!

Comment 3: I have the linen blankets, and I love them. Since I decided to purchase them, I haven’t used anything else, and they’re the only thing I definitely spend money on. I love Brooklinen and they have great bed sheets, but I also love Cultiver (the Australian brand) and have purchased most of their products. Like any natural material, they should be washed with gentle soap and on a delicate wash cycle to last.

Comment 4: I discovered Brooklinen through Cup of Jo, and I love their sheets and towels. They are definitely my favorite brand now.

Comment 5: I am not a fan of Brooklinen at all… I won a contest last year, and Brooklinen was supposed to provide some items as part of the prize… I had to chase them for months to receive the items, and the customer service was cold… that took all the joy out of winning. Then, my robe (which was very soft, I’ll give them that) tore in multiple places the first time I wore it. Frustrating. The socks are ordinary and the sleep mask never arrived… needless to say, I’m shopping elsewhere now. Very disappointed after being so excited about their products.

Comment 6: So many rips! Especially along the seams in the duvet covers and pillowcases. And for the record, I don’t think I treat the bed covers harshly?! It’s been such a disappointing experience with the quality. Sorry to be a downer about the brand.

Comment 7: I love Brooklinen! I especially love their linen sheets. I’ve encouraged many of my friends to try them, and now we’re all happily hooked.

Comment 8: I love Cup of Jo but I can’t endorse Brooklinen products. They are the only sheets I’ve purchased that have ripped and torn in various places, over and over again. Customer service was nice and they sent replacement sheets after I sent photos, but it’s not worth it if you’re looking for quality and durability. I’ve moved on to other brands for sheets due to reliability.

Comment 9: Same here! I bought two sets of Brooklinen sheets and I simply don’t use them anymore because of indifference. I don’t find them particularly good, especially for the price, but they’re not bad. I particularly love the organic cotton sheets from Target. I’ve gradually replaced all the bedding for myself and my family with those sheets.

Comment 11: Switching it up, Kate! My husband used to wrap himself in our duvet and leave me cold haha. Two blankets is life-changing.

Comment 12: This will sound really weird, but I change the art in my bedroom to match my bedding! After my breakup, I wanted to make the room my sanctuary again, so I found some beautiful art on Etsy, printed it out, and framed it above my bed – but I only see one at a time. When it’s time to switch the bedding, the bright Granada print pops up (and I change a small poster in the room to be pink too). It satisfies the human urge for newness without buying anything, and I’m so happy to see it for two weeks until I switch it to the other poster – and then I’m happy with that again!

Comment 13: I’m so sad to see the continued support for Brooklinen. We tried two comforters – the first one ripped and tore in the first week, and Brooklinen eventually replaced it, but the same thing happened with the replacement. We tried a different style – the buttons wouldn’t stay closed over the duvet due to a weird design (the buttons are too small for the buttonholes) and the comforter ripped in various places after about 6 months. We also tried their bed sheets – they ripped and tore after 6 months as well. We tried their robes and they shrank and balled up after a few months. I understand that Cup of Jo wants to support a local brand – and I want to support Cup of Jo – but this brand is simply not good and it saddens me that Cup of Jo continues to recommend it.

Comment 14: I’m honestly really surprised! Because we’ve had Brooklinen sheets for all our beds for a decade and have only had great experiences. I’m so sorry to hear that.

Comment 15: I’m also surprised! I have been buying Brooklinen products for years and have only had one issue – a flat sheet tore after a couple of years and they replaced it even though it was outside the replacement period. Their customer service was great, honestly!

17: Same experience here, Maggie! There were major issues with the sheets and duvet covers that ripped and tore. We decided not to purchase from them again – just a waste of money. We have cats, but the other sheets held up well!

Comment 23: I’m moving next month – I’ve had the same bath towels for years, so I splurged and bought myself Super Plush towels and my son Classic Cotton towels. My new bathroom has a really big bathtub, so I’m super excited! Thanks, Cup of Jo! <3
